SOUND BOWL THERAPY
Explore the ancient healing methods of Himalayan singing bowl sound therapy with the Newar, Indigenous inhabitants of Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. We hone in on the unique practices of the clan living in the ancient city of Patan (also known as Lalitpur) and Master Santa Ratna Shakya, Sacred Seeds’ collaborator, spiritual leader, and Indigenous advisor.
MASTER SANTA
Master Santa owns the last hand-hammered singing bowl foundry in Nepal. With 40 years of experience in singing bowl sound therapy, he's a third-generation legacy bearer of the Kassa minority, known for their specialized work with a seven-metal alloy. Mentor to our host, Dani Pogachefsky, for the past five years, Master Santa has invited our team to stay in his home and film one of his last weeklong trainings on singing bowl sound therapy, offering hands-on learning at his foundry. As he approaches retirement in 2025, the urgency to document his wisdom is palpable, making his intentional involvement in this film a collaborative effort to preserve his people’s traditions.
ECOLOGICAL BALANCE
This film also explores how tradition meets innovation as the Newar people navigate challenges from urbanization and environmental shifts, preserving their sustainable agricultural practices and ecological balance.
