What you're giving to
Sacred Seeds explores the idea that healing, for us as individuals and for the entire planet, may be found in the values and practices of Indigenous communities. For millennia, these ancestral peoples have stewarded the land, found joy, and lived for the benefit of all species and future generations. Indigenous knowledge is founded in the collective rather than the individual, in connection rather than isolation, and in protection over exploitation. These are the common denominators of change and hope that Sacred Seeds will explore in each episode and each Indigenous community.
WHY THIS SERIES MATTERS
ECOLOGICAL PRESERVATION & ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP:
According to the World Wildlife Fund, despite being just 5% of the population, Indigenous peoples safeguard 80% of Earth's biodiversity. Their lands hold more than half the raw materials needed for the transition to a green energy economy. In the Caribbean, Indigenous peoples manage lands which capture 20% of global carbon emissions. Indigenous wisdom holds the power to reverse humanity’s destructive impact on the Earth and ensure our species’ survival for generations.
CULTURAL PRESERVATION:
Amnesty International reports that there are over 476 million Indigenous individuals dispersed across 90 countries, representing more than 5,000 distinct groups and speaking over 4,000 languages. By the year 2100, the United Nations estimates that at least half of all languages, mainly those spoken by Indigenous people, will be in danger of extinction. More crucial than ever, documenting and preserving Indigenous wisdom not only upholds human rights but also offers unique perspectives on spirituality, ethics, and philosophy, enriching global discourse.
In a world full of physical and mental ills resulting from modern living, industrialization, and rampant materialism, there is profound wisdom to be unlocked from an Indigenous holistic approach to physical and mental wellbeing.
HOLISTIC HEALTH & WELLBEING:
